COLOR MY WORLD:
The Arts in Medicine

Nothing can take away the pain and anguish of a little child, or a spouse, or parent, laying in a hospital bed, suffering from a life-threatening illness.

But a song, a dance, a clown, art work, or a theater act can take their mind far away, to a time when they knew how to laugh and sing.

The Arts in Medicine program at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida tries to "bring the arts to the bedside," and it's the largest effort of its kind in the country.

In Color My World: The Arts in Medicine we see artists and volunteers and doctors and nurses at Shands Hospital as they paint, sing, dance and act with patients, creating a bond that strives to overcome the numbing effects of physical pain.
Produced and directed by James Babanikos in association with WUFT-TV, Color My World: The Arts in Medicine brings this story of compassion and sincerity to the screen. This one hour documentary is now available to PBS stations nation wide.
